The body is a touch interface: Skinput

Microsoft Research and Carnegie Mellon University recently unveiled Skinput the project, which is to make your arm a touch interface with any type of electronic devices.

Such technology is heralding a revolution of everyday life in the coming years, although this particular project was not intended to be marketed.

Skinput uses multiple sensory organs that detect pressure areas on the skin, each pulse corresponding to a given action.

The process Skinput interprets user actions according to the frequency emitted by the affected area. Subsequently, the information is sent to the connected device (phone, music player or other electronic application).

For the user, the interface is released with a pico projector built into the strap that attaches to the biceps. The image is projected on the arm or hand and just put a pulse in the right place to start an action.

The device announced to date a 90% reliability on a 10-key model and 80% for a displacement of the user.

Augmented reality, mobile phone free phone, remote control built into the arm web at your fingertips ... The range of possibilities offered by Skinput is infinite.
